Formed in the summer of 2017, Whalien found immediate success in the Pacific Northwest music scene. The band won the Summer Meltdown Showdown in the spring of 2018, winning a spot alongside artists like Lettuce, Greensky Bluegrass, and Big Gigantic at Washington State’s Summer Meltdown Festival.
Since that time the band has performed relentlessly around the west coast, developing a reputation for high-energy live shows, and an identity based on originality that invites listeners to dance, and live in the moment. In April 2022 Whalien released their first album ‘For Realien’ a multi-genre highlight reel of their best work so far.
