Class III; Organic Cotton/Hemp Funnel Neck Top; J.Rappold Friday Harbor, WA
Organic Cotton/Hemp Funnel Neck TopThis top was a design I had been dreaming about making for a while. I designed and drafted the pattern which was inspired by the classic, 1960s funnel neck look with kimono style sleeves. I used 55% hemp/45% organic cotton fabric which can easily biodegrade in your garden.Yes, the top is reversible! On one side, I joined two different fabrics (red & white striped, navy & white striped) using the selvage fabric edges for the center seam. Using the selvage edges on one side was just something that occurred during the design process while I attempted to use leftover fabric remnants from my stash. On the other side, is a classic, navy & white striped look. The neck facing was made using the navy & white striped fabric. And the seams and facing edges are all serged. Thanks for letting me share my design! I'm excited

This was a team effort since Onyx is 7. Every time he comes to grandmas he brings a “stuffy” that needs a bed. He picks a box, picks fabric for a mattress, stuffs the mattress. Picks a pillow fabric and stuffs it. Then picks a blanket fabric. Maybe this will be the year he learns to work the machine !

This mini-needlepoint “rug” (approx 10 in. X 8 in.) was inspired by the Oriental rugs in my home. I designed and executed the project using wool tapestry yarns from my stash. It’s been blocked, but won’t be framed until I have the chance to once again visit a custom framing shop in person.
